Workshops should be tailored to fit within a 90 minute time frame and must include time for audience questions, a PowerPoint or other electronic format presentation, and handouts for participants. The deadline for proposal submissions is November 18, 2011. All proposals must be submitted by email to www.blackadministrators.org.
Process
Proposers will submit a “Call for Papers Response Form.” This form shows the steps needed for submission, and provides information needed to forward your proposal.
Papers will be judged on the depth of insight and the extent to which they relate to the conference tracks. Because many of our children are in multiple systems, the presentation must interrelate overall to the other systems and tracks. Since we are so keenly aware that African American children languish in foster care longer and experience such poor outcomes, the 2012 conference workshops are being selected with a lens of presenting an overall systematic improvement to child welfare.
Papers can range from the practical to the theoretical; proposals should refer to tools, and techniques used to address the tracks. Examples of evidenced based outcomes should be included where possible. Case studies are also welcome. A good proposal will demonstrate that the presenters:
  • are addressing a significant problem

  • are familiar with the literature

  • have devised an original or clever solution

  • have implemented the solution (other than theoretical proposals) and characterized its performance - have drawn appropriate conclusions

  • have developed solutions which can be replicated throughout the country
We already have a strong show of interest in presenting workshops at the 2012 conference, we strongly recommend that you submit your proposal as soon as possible – we will happily accept submissions before our November 18, 2011 deadline. We look forward to reviewing your proposal and learning your approach to “The Power of Change: Reducing Disproportionality.”
